Santa Fe College PC Shop

This is a blast from the past. I designed Santa Fe College’s PC Shop website in 2003 while I was interning in college. It’s a standalone HTML site I built for general shop information.

It looks like they have since editted the site with MS Word (ugh!). To each their own. At least the design was scalable enough to have met their needs up until the time of this post — five years: not bad.

Joe’s Money Maker

JoesMoneyMaker.com is a completely automated site, built on the WordPress content management system with an advertisement-optimized layout (theme).

This site uses a couple of add-ons that pull RSS (real simple syndication) feeds from a variety of websites, and posts short excerpts of each item as an individual post. The concept is to produce volume content as an information portal, and relies on page displays and ad clicks to generate revenue.

The theme is based on industry research for targeting advertisement placement for maximum conversions, or “click-throughs.” RSS feeds are added or removed as needed, and the rest happens auto-magically.

One Higher Power

OneHigherPower.com is a combination personal blog and exploration of spirituality in a modern context. It is built on a WordPress content management system, and loaded with extras.

The extras are in the form of plugins: add-on components provided by the Open Source community surrounding the WordPress project. Language translation, email subscription, comment followup by email, custom search pages, and a randomized logo banner are just a few of the features.

It follows the traditional 800×600 format and uses a single sidebar, leaving a rather lengthy page with tons of content designed to maintain viewer interest. It also supports advertisements.
