This site is designed for easy and intuitive navigation, with only a small amount of text on each page so the message remains the focus throughout. This site is also completely scalable so it maximizes screen space at any resolution.

It is designed with minimal graphics so it loads fast even over a dial-up connection to be available to the maximum audience possible.

StoryTribe.com

StoryTribe.com is a news-related website. As a site focused on content, it is built on a WordPress content management system with a simple and accessible layout (theme).

One key feature of this site, since it’s goal is to generate traffic interested in news and opinion, is that is is optimized for advertisements, which are integrated into the center sidebar for maximum visibility with the least distraction from content.

While it’s often a good idea to keep designs scaled to a screen resolution of 800×600 for accessibility, this site has so much content that a 1024×768 layout was ideal.

Grubbs Gourmet

Naturally, the website you’re looking at now is a work of mine. I use WordPress as the backend content management system, and designed the layout (theme) from scratch.

I designed it to be visually appealing, straight to the point, easy to navigate, and hopefully provides every viewer quickly with the valuable content they’re seeking from an illustrator and designer.

Two custom features I added are a random quote below the navigation sidebar and a random image in the header. I did this with PHP, so viewers have a variety of visual and content interest on top of the “core” information.
